Barony has forty years experience as a reliable landlord and support provider.
Barony is regulated and inspected by a number of bodies.
As a Registered Social Landlord we are regulated and inspected by the Scottish Housing Regulator and the latest inspection report was published in 2006.
As a care and support provider we are regulated and inspected by the Care Commission, who publish their graded reports on our various registered services.
Barony has held Investors in People accreditation since 1997 and achieved the recently introduced higher standard Silver Award in 2010 at our first attempt. This reflects our commitment to staff development.
Barony is a member of Quality Scotland and holds a Committed to Excellence Award for our management systems.
These external accreditations reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and our openness to external scrutiny.
All Barony's tenancy agreements are based on the approved model for Scottish Social Housing. All of Barony's landlord services reflect the Scottish Housing Regulator's Performance Standards.
In line with National Care Standards, every person who uses our care or support services will have a support plan. The support plan will be negotiated between the individual and Barony staff and will be flexible to the individual's needs and regularly reviewed.
The Care Commission has graded Barony's staff interviewing and selection processes as 'Excellent'. All of our staff are recruited through an intensive screening process and the Enhanced Disclosure check on criminal records.
Once recruited, our staff go through a detailed induction process and have regular training on topics such as health & safety, food hygiene, medication administration, and manual handling.
Our managers are professionally qualified in Housing, Nursing, Occupational Health or Social Work. Our Support Workers are either qualified to Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) 2 or 3 or are going through training to achieve these qualifications.
As well as ensuring that statutorily required training is always covered, we provide staff with access to wider training opportunities tailored to the specific needs of their work. These include tenant participation, equality and diversity training and mental health awareness.
Staff are supported through regular supervision meetings which we call Work Review in which their workload and practice are discussed. All our staff have an individual Annual Review which looks at their performance over the year and looks forward to the coming year
